We all know how the story goes - You have loaded your dishwasher and left for an hour or two just to get back and find that none of the dishes has been cleaned and your Bosch dishwasher is now showing an error code. Bosch dishwashers are known for being reliable, but even the best machines can have bad days sometimes.
If your Bosch dishwasher is throwing codes at you follow our DIY guide to see what could potentially be the problem and how to safely troubleshoot it before calling Best Appliance Repairs in Toronto.
What could my Bosch Dishwasher error code mean?
Error codes are your dishwasher’s way of waving a little red flag. It’s telling you something’s off - whether it’s water flow, draining, or a leak.
The most common issues include:
Blocked filters or spray arms
Faulty water inlet valves
Drain pump problems
Leak detections
Heater issues
Circulation Pump motor failure.
In most cases your Bosch dishwasher will refuse to start the cycle and/or make a grinding noise non stop unless you kill the power to it from the breaker. Let's go through some of the most common error codes on your Bosch dishwasher and what they mean.
E15 – Water in the Base Tray
This is one of the most common Bosch errors we see. Bosch dishwashers have a unique base tray which contains a sensor that detects water if a leak happens. When the sensor is triggered - all dishwasher operations stop immediately to alert you something is wrong while preventing a bigger leak from happening.
What it means: Your dishwasher has detected water in the bottom safety tray.
Next step: Shut the water supply to your dishwasher (Usually located under the sink)

E24 – Drain Error
What it means: Your Bosch dishwasher isn’t draining properly - either due to a clogged drain pump, pipe or a broken dishwasher drain pump.
What to check:
Is the drain hose clogged?
Have you cleaned the filter recently? Try running a short rinse cycle to see if the error clears.
If the pump is buzzing but not moving water or you can’t hear your dishwashers drain pump running - it might be the right time to call your local appliance repair company to have the drain pump and drain hose diagnosed.
E09 – Heating Issue
Bosch dishwashers using heat pumps located within the circulation motor. If the heater on the pump fails your Bosch dishwasher will fail heating up the water during the cycle causing your dishes to still be dirty by the end of the cycle and your pod to not dissolve.
What to check:
Are your dishes still cold at the end of a cycle?
Is there an issue with your home’s water temperature?
Try shutting the power off to the unit for a few hours and if that doesn’t work call us and we will have your heat pump motor running in no time!
