LG Washing Machine Appliance Issues

These days, LG washers are built smarter than ever! Sleek designs, energy-saving features, and advanced sensors that make laundry day easy and efficient. But even the smartest washer has its off days. If your LG washer has decided to take a day off - Don’t panic!
We've created a practical troubleshooting guide that all Toronto homeowners can use.

Why Do LG Washers Display Error Codes?

Modern LG washers have built-in diagnostics that make catching malfunctions easier and faster.

Here are some of the usual suspects behind those error codes:

  • A clogged filter or a broken drain pump

  • Issues with water flow

  • Power surges or electrical malfunctions

  • Unbalanced loads

  • Broken door latches

  • Sensor related error codes

Common error codes and their hidden meanings

Here are the top LG washer error codes we see most often in homes around Toronto:

OE – Drain Error

Your washer isn’t draining like it should.

  • Check the drain hose for any blockages or kinks

  • Clean out the drain pump filter (usually at the bottom front of the machine - not applicable to most top loaders.)

IE – Water Inlet Error

This means your washer isn’t filling up.

  • Ensure both water taps are fully open

  • Remove and clean the small filters where the hoses connect to the washer (Do not forget to shut the water supply to the unit and make sure it did actually close)

UE – Unbalanced Load

The washer’s struggling to spin because the load isn’t balanced.

  • Pause the cycle and even things out

  • Avoid stuffing in bulky and light items together - Pillows and duvets can be a nightmare for your washing machine!

DE – Door Error

The door isn’t locking or unlocking properly.

  • Close it firmly until you hear a click

  • Look for anything stuck in the door seal

FE – Overflow Error

Too much water is coming in.

  • Turn off the water supply right away

  • This usually means a faulty inlet valve or sensor it’s time to call us

tE – Thermistor Error

This one’s about temperature issues.

  • Try unplugging the washer for 10 minutes to reset it

  • If the code pops back up, the temp sensor might need replacing

Try a Reset

  • Unplug the machine for about 5-10 minutes

  • Plug it back in and run a quick rinse or spin cycle

  • Check if the error code disappears

Still seeing that code? Then it’s probably more than just a glitch - Give Best Appliance Repairs a call and we will have your LG washing machine up and running in no time!

Check Water Flow and Drainage

A lot of these error codes trace back to water flow.

  • Inspect hoses for any twists or clogs.

  • Clean the water inlet filters and the drain pump filter
